Dear Graduating Seniors and Parents:

Due to the number of school cancellations that we have had at Ottawa-Glandorf High School, we must make provisions to comply with the number of days in which our students are in attendance. The Ohio Revised Code states that graduating seniors may be dismissed from school no more than three days earlier than the rest of the student body. The whole student body is making up 3 days with our extended days during the month of April. The seniors will still have one day of school to make-up. This day is Tuesday, June 3, 2008.

We have planned several options for our seniors to make up this extra day. One option is a Job Shadow Day in which each graduate will select an individual to shadow for the day on their job. The attached form must be completed and signed by the parent and returned to me prior to graduation practice in order to be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. This job shadow experience can take many forms and it is not required that the job shadow experience occur on June 3. We simply must account for all of our students on that day. The next option we have arranged is to participate in the “JOIN HANDS DAY” on Saturday, May 3, 2008. This day has been organized by the Volunteer Connection of Putnam County. They are looking for individuals from the Ottawa-Glandorf Communities to work and have a good time making a difference in our communities. As with the first option the attached form must be completed and signed by the parent and returned to me prior to the “JOIN HANDS DAY”, in order to register and participate in graduation. The last option is to attend school on one of the days of school following Graduation. These days are Tuesday, May 27, Wednesday, May 28, Thursday, May 29, Friday, May 30, Monday, June 2, or Tuesday, June 3.

I ask for your cooperation in these activities so that we can comply with the law without disrupting our scheduled graduation date.

Should you have any questions regarding graduation or the make up day scheduled after graduation, please contact me by email or phone before graduation week so that we can alleviate any problems with your child’s graduation.

INTENTION FORM FOR CLASS OF 2008

This school year has been one of continual disruptions due to the weather. Because of the weather, we have been forced to utilize our built in make up days, and we are now forced to institute alternative plans. One of those plans was the extended days during the month of April. This plan accounted for 3 make up days for the entire student body. One problem that we still have is that the seniors need to make up one more day to allow them to have graduation on the originally scheduled day. To help seniors make up this day, we have come up with three options that they may use to make up the extra day.

If the seniors or parents have another alternative to help in making up this day, we would encourage them to fill out the bottom section of the intention form.

So that we can accurately account for all of our students on Tuesday, June 3, we will need you to indicate your intentions based on the choices listed below:
